Our members were sad to learn of the death of Peter Alexander on Saturday 27th April 2019, having lost not only a Rotary colleague but a valued friend.
Peter came to Oborne in the early 2000s from Old Amersham and joined in the social life of Oborne and then in 2003, the Rotary Club of Sherborne, where his main involvement was organising the Senior Youth Speaks event which went well for some years .
One of his Rotary colleagues described Peter as “one of the few genuine level headed people and was very much at peace with himself, no hang-ups just a thoroughly likeable chap, never happier than with a pint in his hands chatting to his friends”.
Peter’s funeral will be on Friday 17th May.
12 noon a short committal ceremony at Yeovil Crematorium for family and close friends.
1.30pm Service of Thanksgiving in Oborne Church.
Then afterwards at The Grange where Matt and Peter’s wife June hope “as many people as possible will join us to remember Peter in the way he would wish – chatting with his friends”.
I just want to say thank you so much for sharing your wonderful article.
It is at times like this that we realise how close friendships are in Rotary, and Peter really was a valued friend.
