Sherborne Soup is a Micro-granting lunch celebrating and supporting local charities in our community.
Every year the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles raises significant amounts of money that is donated to good causes. People who live and work in the local community are invited to join us at Sherborne SOUP where they decide who will be the recipients of a £1,000 fund.
The next event is planned for Autumn 2020.
This is how it works:
For a £5 donation attendees will receive a soup and roll lunch and a vote.
Attendees will hear FOUR presentations from charities all working in the community.
Each presenter will have FOUR minutes to share their ideas.
The audience can ask each presenter FOUR questions after their presentation.
During lunch attendees eat, talk, network and then vote on the project that they think benefits the community most. At the end of lunch the votes are counted and the winner goes home with 50% of the fund to carry out their project. The other participants receive the balance divided equally. The winners are invited back to a future Sherborne SOUP lunch to report on their project’s progress.
The £5 donations, which are collected on the day, help cover our costs and contributes to the recipients’ £1,000 fund.
