As his last official duty President Nick presented a cheque for £750 to the West End Pre-School. The pre-school celebrates its 40th anniversary on the 19th July and is raising funds to replace much of the play equipment that has now reached the end of its useful life. Nick is pictured with Janet Doheny the manager who retires on the 24th July after 33 years.

The donation was largely made up from the proceeds of this years Rotary Great Western 10K Run. These increased threefold to £665 in the second year since its return to its traditional Sunday morning slot. The balance being from our own charity fund. A total of 145 entrants braved the atrocious weather conditions to participate. Pete Jakeman and Hazel Dodge from the Yeovil Town Road Running Club attended our club meeting on the 17th June and presented the cheque to President Nick. They confirmed that the 10K course has gained the reputation as being one of the toughest multi-terrain courses in the region. A real challenge for all the participants.
All members will be pleased to know that next years event will be on Sunday 9th March, same time same place and it does not fall on Mothering Sunday !
