Christmas Appeal

We are very pleased to announce that the main recipient of our Christmas Appeal this year will be a new charity, Let’s help our Primary Schoolchildren.  The Christmas Appeal collects donations at the Nativity scene at the Conduit in Sherborne.  You can also donate online here.

A little about the charity
For many years, local primary schools have brought joy to disadvantaged children and their families by donating Christmas hampers.

Thanks to the kind support of our community and local businesses, the appeal has flourished and become too big for the school PTAs to manage.  This has inspired the creation of a new charity: Let’s Help Our Primary Schoolchildren, which is registered with the Charities Commission number 1214847.

What they do
They support disadvantaged children and their families, as well as the primary schools in and around Sherborne, both at Christmas and throughout the school year.  At Christmas the families receive a lovely hamper and a set of £5 vouchers which can be used in independent stores in our town. During the school year they help with events such as school outings and school life such as improving classrooms and school facilities.

Why is it needed?
Our town has the fourth poorest ward in the county and sadly there are many, in fact too many, other areas of deprivation both in our town and also in neighbouring villages.

How you can help volunteer
The charity need helpers to assist at events during the year.

Donate
Helping our two hundred families at Christmas and supporting the children and their schools during the year is a big ask. So please donate to ‘Let’s help our Primary Schoolchildren’.  You can donate here.
