The 48th Sherborne Historic Vehicle Rally is now open for applications. The event will take place this year on Sunday, Aug 24th. Entrants will arrive and register first and then start with a c.35 mile rally around the local countryside and end showcasing their fabulous vehicles to members of the public at the historic Courts at Sherborne School.
Visitors on the day have a lovely experience and the £5 entry fee will help us along with generous sponsors to raise money for local charities. Last year the event raised £7,200, with the principal beneficiaries being the Dorset Air Ambulance and the Sherborne Town Band as well as other local good causes.
This event attracts vehicles from a wide era, including Veteran, Vintage, and Classic all the way up to modern thoroughbreds from the 80s and 90s. In addition to looking at the wonderful vehicles and talking to their owners, visitors will be serenaded by the Sherborne Town band and many vehicle owners will also dress up for the occasion, wearing costumes appropriate to the age of their vehicles!
Knowledgeable judges will then award trophies to winners of the various classes of vehicle, with the ‘Most Desirable’ car and motorcycle trophies will be judged by the visiting public.
