Rotary Youth Leadership Award

Four students from the Gryphon School sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles have just returned from this years Rotary Youth Leadership Award programme held at The Storey Arms adventure centre in the Brecon Beacons. All students have to be 16-17 years of age with the potential to become leaders. The challenging week long programme includes activities such as gorge walking, canoeing and caving.  All the students experienced leading a team of 6-8 others. They were briefed on the key aspects a team leader needs to take into account such as the technical skills they must explain, risks and risk management as well as communication with teammates before leading their team in a particular activity.

We hope the students will have benefited and will take the experience with them into work or University life and be encouraged to take leadership roles within the community in the future
