Rotary Charity Fundraisers -everybody wins!

This project of the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles is an amazing success not only for our club but for all the other clubs who have become involved, and the beneficiaries of the funds raised.

Rotary Charity Fundraisers achievements in the past year:

  • Ironman 70.3 UK event on Exmoor – involves 7 Rotary Clubs in District 1200 ( Wiveliscombe, Wellington, Wellington District, Taunton, Taunton Vale, Minehead & The Quantocks, Crewkerne District) plus 2 Rotary clubs from District 1170 (Exmoor and Tiverton) and of course the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles Fundraisers Ltd (RCSCF),  who operate Rotary Charity Fundraisers.
  • 43 Rotary Charity Fundraisers entrants to Ironman 70.3 UK last year raised a staggering £44,780 to be donated by RCF Host Clubs to charities and good causes in the coming months.
  • The Ironman UK event in Bolton now involves 6 Rotary Clubs in District 1280 [ Bolton, Bolton Lever, Bolton Daybreak, Radcliffe, Horwich and Middleton ] plus RCSCF.
  • 57 Rotary Charity Fundraisers entrants to Ironman UK last year raised an even greater £59,465 to be donated by RCF Host Clubs to charities and good causes.

Additionally the RCSCF is donating £15,000 to our Community Fund, from the small percentage that is retained by the charity from the funds it receives, . The Community Fund enables local charitable organisations in our DT9 postcode area to apply annually for awards for their projects and activities.   Applications for this funding close on 31st March 2014.

Rotary Charity Fundraisers in action in UK, France and Hawaii in 2013

….and celebrating their success!

This year we already have 62 Rotary Charity Fundraisers for Ironman 70.3 UK and 64 Rotary Charity Fundraisers for Ironman UK so the amount raised should be even greater.

So What is Rotary Charity Fundraisers?

Rotary Charity Fundraisers is operated by Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles Fundraisers Ltd, a standalone charitable limited company set up by our club in 2011, initially to manage the growing number of participants in Ironman who were raising money for charity as part of their entry package.    Since then the number of events and charity fundraisers taking part has increased year on year and is generating funds for all sorts of charities and good causes throughout the UK.

It is a Charity Partner with Ironman UK for their two events, the full Ironman UK event in Bolton which is covered by District 1280 clubs, and the half Ironman 70.3 UK on Exmoor.   It also has non-charity partner status for Ironman Wales.

Individual athletes sign up with us to raise funds for charities and good causes. ALL the funds are then presented to a wide variety of charities and good causes by RCF Host Clubs. The majority of these are the clubs that help out at the Ironman events.   In addition, Rotary Charity Fundraisers are able to nominate special charities and good causes remote from the events themselves to receive 50% of the funds they raise. These presentations are carried out by RCF Host Clubs nearer to the nominated charities.

Year on year the whole thing just keeps growing, and we are proud of the small team from our club who make this happen.
