Sherborne International Film Festival
October 2012
“Keep it up, it’s wonderful!” and “Fantastic choice of films” are just two of the many complimentary comments received following Rotary Sherborne Castles’ 4th International Film Festival, held in October.
Nearly 600 people watched ten films over the four-day event and, although this is primarily a community service event, an operating surplus of about £1,500 was made, largely due to sponsors such as the Margaret Balfour Beauty Centre and Sherwoods Property. This year, donations are being made to Rotary’s Shelter Box charity (www.shelterbox.org ) and a water-pipe project in Nicaragua (www.latafoundation.org/projects )
The opening night’s Oscar-winning film, “In a Better World”, drew the most praise and was most highly rated – as were the canapés and drinks served beforehand! Other popular films included the Norwegian thriller “Headhunters” and the Belgian story of “The Kid with a Bike”. For a list of the final ratings and comments, take a look at the festival website, www.shiff.org.uk
As one festival-goer said, “Can’t wait to come again!”
